by Melissa Brade

Canadian Action Party candidate, Yellowhead.

Concern about our countries sovereignty and the future for my children if things continue as they have is my motivation for joining politics.

Our country is no longer in our hands, and is instead being controlled by multinational corporations, whose only motivation is profit, with no responsibility to the people or the environment.

I want to be pro-active and help turn our country in the right direction and plan on organizing my platform as such, focusing on information and education . People routinely complain about the state of this world but often do not have the tools or willpower to change things.

Ghandi said it best.. ”you must be the change you wish to see in this world”.

Change can only happen through the collective power of the people.

People have to know there is a problem in order to change it and most are being mislead by media, politics, war and distraction. I spend time organizing and facilitating viewings of educational materials and discussion forums on issues effecting our country.

My hope is that truth and awareness will drive people to make informed decisions.
Melissa protesting at the Edmonton Legislature

Melissa protesting at the Edmonton Legislature on 19 August 2007.

I have spent enough years fearing the future and am no longer willing to let the bureaucrats, corporations and politicians strip myself , my children and all Canadians of their inherent rights.

I was very impressed by the Canadian Action Party's platform and goals when I first came in contact with the party, and continue to be impressed by the strength and solidarity that Connie Fogal and the other candidates display in fighting for the rights and freedoms of us all.

The Canadian Action Party (CAP) is truly enlightened to the precarious situation Canada is in. Nothing less than our sovereignty is at stake.

I am very supportive and informed on all the CAP policies. Monetary reform is crucial and an issue most Canadians are not aware of. We are truly blessed to still have control of our Bank of Canada and our government must start to repatriate our national debt back to it, and issue any further national debt with 0% interest government created money.

If we accept the North American Union (NAU) and the issuance of a common currency (the Amero) this would absolve our sovereignty and any power we may have had in our Bank of Canada.

Sustainable agriculture and energy freedom are a very important focus for my riding.

Local farms have been devastated by “free” trade, and rural communities are suffering, losing their traditional employment and family focus. Taxpayer subsidies are the only way small farmers are holding onto their land, while they are forced into the use of chemical pesticides, fertilizers and GMO crops to be eligible for government assistance. These subsidies will go right back into the pockets of the corporations who have created the problems.

We must find new, creative solutions and rewards farmers and producers for practices that not only feed the populous but care for our environment.

The best example of unrestricted profit mongering and corporate control in Alberta is the unchecked development of the Tar Sands. This is a province wide concern as it has caused a boom in our economy (which will inevitable be followed by a bust).

People province wide find employment in Tar Sands operations, and others from out of province flock to Alberta to find no housing, poor infrastructure and unchecked environmental degradation which has decimated Alberta's beautiful natural heritage.

With the current development permits our province has issued, the Tar Sands will cover an immense area the size of Florida, and be the world's single largest contributor to CO2 emissions within a decade.

The development permits have all had reclamation stipulations, but sadly not even one Tar Sands development has been reclaimed in decades of development. The highly toxic tailing ponds which contain huge amounts of arsenic and other contaminants can be seen from space. These toxic leechings have been making their way into our water systems, namely the Athabasca river and nearby aquifers which supply fresh water to much of Northern Alberta and the Territories.

The Deadly toxins introduced into the water systems through Tar Sands operations have caused serious health and environmental problems for the citizens living in the area and upstream.

Documentation of these instances includes increased infant mortality, miscarriages and stillbirths, skyrocketing cancer and leukemia rates as well as impacts to the local wildlife. It is quite common to catch fish covered in tumours and deformations.

This has seriously impacted the native communities, and compromised their treaty rights to continue a traditional lifestyle, living off the land.

Tar Sands development must be halted. The money and resources our government and corporations put into these developments (which are for export to the U.S.), would be better spent on research, development, manufacturing and export of alternative technologies.

Technology is being actively suppressed in favour of the profits of corporate giants in agriculture, chemicals, petroleum, pharmaceuticals and manufacturing. Corporate profits are being put before the well being of people and the planet.

Under the NAFTA agreements our government cannot even issue legislation to protect the people and environment if such changes may effect the profits of these corporate entities.

Under the dispute settlement chapter, our government can be (and is) sued for such actions.

This causes government to be complacent in the face of risk to the citizenry and is a major reason we must abrogate NAFTA, and only sign onto trade agreements that are in the best interest of the Canadian people.

In my riding we are seeing our politicians disregard the favourable outcomes of alternative technologies, which would create a stable job market, a distributive generation grid and positively reinforce the abilities of rural communities.

Alberta could and should be a world leader in the manufacturing, implementation and export on “green” technology. Instead our current leaders are once again following the will of industry and proposing continues fossil fuel exploration and nuclear technologies as the future for Alberta.
Yellowhead Federal Riding

Yellowhead Federal Riding.

This past year I have been very active in informing my community and province about the dangers, health risks and environmental impact of the nuclear technology proposed for my riding.

I have connected with several environmental groups and anti-nuclear foundations and have been a prominent voice in local meetings. (much to the dismay of the energy-sector).

Myself and other concerned area residents formed a Group called The Tipping Point Project. We have sponsored several internationally acclaimed experts on nuclear technology, such as Dr. Gordon Edwards, Paul Gunter, and Dr. Jim Harding, to help inform area residents so that they can make an informed decision when the issue comes to plebiscite.

The Alberta nuclear proposal is being motivated by corporations intentions to further export energy from Alberta to the USA. A 500kv transmission line from central Alberta through Montana and then California is being pushed through the legislative process with the sole intent of securing more Canadian energy for U.S. need. (they get more of our energy, we get dangerous nuclear waste.)

Provincially, Bill 46 has recently been passed. This bill further speeds the provincial regulatory process in regards to energy infrastructure and development. The bill severely limited landowner rights and eliminates landowners rights to legal representation, giving unopposed access to the development of private property for corporate gain in the energy sector. This would include transmission lines, pipelines, power plants (coal or nuclear) and exploration.

I regards to nuclear development I have great concern about our federal governments recent sign on to the Global Nuclear Energy Partnership (GNEP).

This Agreement commits Canada to accept and dispose of the nuclear waste from countries we have exported our uranium to. The Canadian Shield is proposed as a potential site for the long term storage of radioactive waste, waste which has no proven safe method of long term storage or disposal, waste which will remain deadly for hundreds of thousands of years.

The GNEP connects with the CANDU ACR-1000, which is being designed to run on MOX fuel. (A blend of Depleted Uranium and Plutonium).

The Plutonium would have to be extracted from the initial waste through reprocessing, whereby a miniscule ¼ of 1% of the original waste is separated. The rest (99.75%) is still highly radioactive and in a slurry of boiling nitric acid, much more unstable and difficult to dispose of and to keep separate from the environment. I consider this all an unacceptable risk, especially with the successful advancement and proven reliability of alternative technologies such as wind, solar, geothermal and distributive generation.
Yeloowhead

The nuclear agenda for Alberta is highly Interconnected with our energy policies and trade agreements. The encompassing issues are all highly complicated, but we are working hard to inform Albertans. My hope is that once people are educated the proposal will be exposed for what it truly is, another blow to our sovereignty. Another exploitation of our country and its resources. The CAP envisioned moratorium on the use of Depleted Uranium (DU) was very personal to me, given my strong interest in the effects and impacts of nuclear technology. The DU moratorium was one of the fist connections I made with the CAP, as they are the only party calling for the stop of such criminal actions.

I have been vocal against the war in Iraq and found out about DU while I was researching weaponry. It disturbed me on a human level that I can’t describe. As a mother I am absolutely sickened to know the true suffering we have subjected others to in the name of war! We as a country propagate war crimes internationally and our activities within the UN are despotic. Our actions are further compromised by our support of the “war on terror” and the US ambition abroad, including the integration of our military systems through US-NORTHCOM, NORAD and the Ballistic missile defence system.

Our actions within the global community must be made public so that Canadians can become aware of the egregious use of their tax dollars.

I strongly feel DU, Atomic Weapons and the warfare that propagate their use are one of the biggest threats to humanity.

The repercussions of our actions in these few years will last for incomprehensible lengths of time and will continue to cause horrific impacts for future generations, long after “the war on terror” is exposed for what it truly was. (an inside job)

I have never heard a politician acknowledge such problems within our government until I came in contact with the CAP. I found it very heartening to know that there was a political party I could become involved with, without compromising my moral values as a parent and citizen who wishes to keep this planet in a healthy state for future generations.

Canadian access to alternative healthcare and natural health products is very important as the pharmaceutical companies have a huge influence in our current politics and the healthcare options we are given. The Implementation of the Codex Alimentarus by 2009 (which will make vitamins, nutrients, minerals and natural health products illegal) is a horrific example maniacal profit mongering.
Protest

People must become aware of such agreements and their implications on our health, freedom and democracy before more of our rights are infringed upon by unaccountable, unelected, elitists.

My motivation to help facilitate much needed change in the consciousness and critical thinking that is currently lacking comes from my background.

I am a mother of 2, I live with my husband and children in a rural community in north- central Alberta. I have always loved nature and the outdoors and thank my upbringing for instilling a strong respect for our country and its environment.

I have been exposed all my life to the economic structure that drives the fossil fuel industry in my province, and have witnessed firsthand this profit driven enterprise and its environmental impacts.

From 2000-2005 I was employed in infrastructure doing road construction surveys with a local engineering firm. This helped me build a strong character as I was one of the few women onsite in a tough business consisting of mostly men. After this I worked locally in Legal Surveys so that I could have more time with my young family.

In 2006 I had my youngest child and have since devoted my time to education and activism.

Independently I study anything I can get my hands on .

I am very interested in environmental science, economics, natural health and politics. Nuclear energy technology, weapons proliferation and effects of radiation have been a strong focus of my studies and a keen area of interest in my pursuit of knowledge.

I would consider my beliefs about the state of our country and world “unconventional” by popular standards but feel this is due not to “radical thinking” but the willingness to educate myself in a free and informed way.

Education is key, and much is lacking in the current public education system, which is geared towards creating complacent, unquestioning, consumers. We must all take some time from our busy lives and begin to truly question the motivations and agenda of the system we are governed by.

A lot that needs to happen and a lot that needs to change. Canadians must be given back their rights! The rights to their sovereignty, freedom, money, health and resources. I believe the CAP will help this to happen, we are not scared to tell the truth, to reveal just how much is at stake and how much has already been lost to us all.

I am very grateful for the opportunity to be a candidate for the CAP, the only party who truly represents the best interest of all Canadians, their families, and the sovereignty of this beautiful country!

Connie Fogal, Leader, Canadian Action Party / Parti action canadienne (CAP / PAC), who cannot be
present at the April 21, 2008 press conference at the New Orleans Marriott Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana
due to financial constraints, sends her personal support and the support of CAP / PAC to the Coalition to
Block the North American Union, (NAU), and stands with them in total opposition to the integration of North
America.

Connie Fogal says, “As the three leaders of Canada, U.S.A. and Mexico meet once again in their annual
summit since 2005 (this year in April in New Orleans) to discuss their respective progress on the integration of
our three countries into one geographical super structure already being turned over to the rule of and
administration by the financial/military/corporate elite of North America, and as they meet to discuss their
progress on the dismantling of the constitutional rights and freedoms of the citizens of each country, I am
proud to participate with the Coalition to Block the North American Union in the press conference April 21,
2008 in full opposition to this integration.”

Fogal sets out her position and the position of CAP/PAC:

“We oppose the deliberate dismantling of three independent, sovereign, free nations.”

“We oppose the Orwellian police state apparatus being foisted on us to imprison us in 21st century
serfdom.”

“We are for rule by the people, of the people, for the people, as it was in our beginnings, as we demand
now, and as it will ever be.”

Ms. Fogal urges Canada’s NDP International Trade Critic Peter Julian (Burnaby-New Westminster), U.S.
Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (Democrat, Ohio), and the Honourable Yeidckol Polevnsky (senator for Mexico
State and vice-president of the Mexican Senate) to join forces with the USA based Coalition to Block the North
American Union AND to use their elected status in leadership to begin the DISMANTLING of the NAU and
return each country to its SOVEREIGN NATION status.

Connie Fogal insists that it is far too little that M.P. Peter Julian, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, and the
Honourable Yeidckol Polevnsky have agreed to work “to stop further implementation of the so-called Security
and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) process, imposed undemocratically on our three nations, and to open up the
process that has taken place behind closed doors to instead have a transparent review and scrutiny within
their respective legislatures.” (From press release of Peter Julian, April 9, 2008.)

Fogal further explains,” The efforts of these good people to call for a halt at the current level of integration with
‘transparency’, ‘review’, and ‘scrutiny’, instead of immediate TERMINATION and REVERSAL of the integration
process shows how constrained are our legislators to act in our interest, and how far behind they are from the
will of the informed electorate”.

Connie Fogal, who was a leading opponent of the expansion of gambling in Canada, often quoted a witness
from the gambling industry as reported by Professor Robert Goodman in his classic 1984 Ford Foundation
study about the impact of the use of gambling as a means of running the economy of a nation. That witness
said of legislators who supported gambling to rev the economy of a nation that they were unwitting fools and
willing dupes of the gambling industry.

Fogal considers that legislators Julian, Kaptur, and Polevnsky appear to be encouraging the rest of us to live
with the current level of integration, but with “transparency”, “review” and “scrutiny” of the integration process.
“If so,” Fogal says, “they are ‘unwitting fools’, ‘willing dupes’, and facilitators for the financial/corporate / military
rule at hand.”

Canadian NDP Trade Critic, Peter Julian (Burnaby-New Westminster), U.S. Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur
(D-Ohio), the Honourable Yeidckol Polevnsky (Senator for Mexico State and Vice-president of the Mexican
Senate), and the Honourable Victor Quintana (Deputy of the State of Chihuahua, Mexico), with support from
their respective political parties say they have launched a Task Force on Renegotiating NAFTA. to promote
within their respective legislatures the renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) to
achieve a fair trade policy.

Connie Fogal says this is deception of the people. “NAFTA never was and never will be about trade. It always
was and can only remain the Trojan Horse to bring about the unification of North America. NAFTA is the
foundation of the economic integration of Canada, the U.S.A and Mexico into undemocratic, administrative
corporate economic rule. It was the first step on the ladder to complete unification which unification is the tool
to hand over the human and natural resources of these lands to serve only the interests of a greedy elite.”
“The 2005 Security and Prosperity Partnership Agreement (S.P.P) that brings the three national leaders
together for their annual summit this year at New Orleans is the guts and substance, the flesh and blood of the
elite military/ economic/ social empire of a United States of North America stripped of any allegiance to,
accountability to, service to, or responsibility for the best interests of the new serfs, the people of our lands.”

Fogal repeats her urgent appeal:

1. “NAFTA must be abrogated, not renegotiated”.

2. “The North American Union must be blocked, not reviewed”.

Note:
The Coalition to Block the North American Union is a U.S. based organization with numerous members including: American Policy Center, American Council for Immigration Reform, California Association of Pro America, Coalition of African American Pastors, Coalition of American Veterans, Conservative National Committee, Constitution Party, Founding Fathers Forum, Freedom Alliance, Foundation for American Christian Education, Minutemen Civil Defence Corps, The Conservative Caucus, The Abraham Lincoln Foundation for Public Policy Research, and many more.

Globalization is Killing Canada: Fight for Your Freedom

by Paul Hellyer

Is Canada worth saving? Is democracy worth saving? These are the two fundamental questions we must address now - before it is too late. Canadian values are disappearing rapidly as we lose our independence and our sovereignty. The country is being dismantled after more than a century of nation building. We are losing control of our most important industries. As we give up domestic ownership of our assets, we lose the most exciting and challenging jobs, which too often move to the new corporate headquarters outside Canada - and young people who want those jobs must follow. It's part of the brain drain. In effect, Canada has become a victim of "Globalization". We are told this process is both inevitable and good. It is only inevitable if we let it happen. It is only good for two to five percent of the world's richest and most powerful people. It is bad for the vast majority.

I should make a distinction between those areas where global cooperation is both good and essential, and those areas where it is harmful. We must cooperate globally to protect our oceans, the ozone layer and prevent Global Warming. International cooperation is also required to protect endangered species, fight international crime and in other areas of mutual concern. What we have to stop is the relentless drive on the part of multinational corporations and international banks - centred largely in the five big powers - to take over governance of the world for their own benefit.

The Canada - U.S. Free Trade Agreement

The "Globalization" process got a rocket-assisted boost with the Canada-U.S. Free Trade Agreement (FTA). Canadians were led to believe that this was a trade agreement. When I read it, I found, to my dismay, that it was primarily an investment agreement. Sure it called for reductions in tariffs, but this was already happening under the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT). The most important parts of the FTA were about investment. The Americans wanted our industries and resources - especially energy and water. They also wanted our land. Instead of Canada being open for business again, as Prime Minister Brian Mulroney proudly boasted, it was up for sale.

Mr. Mulroney allowed the Americans to insert a "national treatment" clause which was a new concept in international law that gave U.S. investors the same rights in Canada as Canadian citizens. I think this is wrong in principle! Where is the value of citizenship if foreign investors have the same rights? In fact, the "national treatment" clause gave American investors the right to invest in Canada without conditions and without limits. We can no longer say "You can't buy more than 50% of our forest industry or oil and gas reserves" - because the treaty says they can own all our reserves. The same rule applies to our best farmland. With the FTA, Brian Mulroney accomplished two things: He virtually guaranteed the demise of Canada as a nation state, and he allowed the conquest of Canada by America. The conquest is still tentative, perhaps, for about two more years. Then we will reach the point of no return after which annexation by the United States will become inevitable. I am concerned that several hundred years of experiment in popular democracy is coming to an end because globalization is really a code word for corporate rule and colonization.

NAFTA - Canada is being sued

When we signed the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), we granted U.S. and Mexican investors greater rights in Canada than Canadian citizens enjoy. Chapter 11, the disputes settlement chapter, allows foreign investors to sue if our governments - federal, provincial or municipal - pass any law or regulation that affect their corporate profits or potential profits. And we are being sued. The first suit was the celebrated Ethyl case. When the Canadian parliament passed a law prohibiting the importation and distribution of MMT, a manganese-based gasoline additive in Canada, the U.S. Ethyl Corporation sued the government of Canada. The government settled out of court for $20 million in legal costs and agreed to repeal the law. So who is running Canada when a foreign corporation can dictate to the Canadian parliament? Equally bad, the settlement agreement required two Canadian cabinet ministers to read statements to the effect that MMT was not harmful either to the environment or to health at the very moment that the latest scientific evidence suggested that it may indeed be injurious to the health, especially of children. There are other cases pending. The Sun Belt Water Corporation of California is suing for $1.5-$10.5 billion because we won't let it sell our water. Pope & Talbot Inc., a U.S. forest company is suing for $500 million. These suits are just the tip of the iceberg.

The WTO is Anti-Democratic

The World Trade Organization is another threat to our democratic traditions. It has ruled that the auto pact with the U.S. is illegal. It has ruled that the European Union has to accept U.S. and Canadian beef that has been raised on bovine growth hormones. It said that the U.S. could not ban tuna caught in nets that drown sea turtles. (In every case involving an environmental issue, the WTO has ruled against the environment). Now the WTO has ruled that our drug patents are too short and that, in effect, we have to change our laws to correspond with U.S. laws. In addition to this affront to our sovereignty, this ruling, if it stands, means that we will have to pay untold millions more for drugs at a time when our health care system is already in crisis from inadequate funding.

What Kind of Democracy?

The decline of democracy in the U.S. has reached the point where Lewis Lapham, editor of Harpers Magazine, says the U.S. has two governments - the permanent government and the provisional government. The permanent government comprises: (a) the Fortune 500 list of the largest American corporations, (b) the largest law firms in Washington that do their legal work for them, (c) the largest public relation firms in Washington that do their advertising and public relations and (d) the top public servants both civil and military. These groups make up the permanent government that really runs the country. Then there is the provisional government - "politicians for hire". Every few years there is a charade called an election which picks a political actor to go on stage and read the scripts written by the permanent government. As some actors read scripts with less improvisation than others, the permanent government checks them out in advance and decides who they want. Then they put up the money to get them elected. George Bush is the perfect stereotype. Listen to him on "Free Trade" and foreign policy and you will know he is the actor of choice. Why did Elizabeth Dole drop out of the Republican race? Because she was not the choice of the permanent government and didn't have the funds to continue.

There are Strings Attached

The evolution of the system has led to a government that is little more than a big bully enforcer for giant American corporations. The U.S. government goes to the WTO and gets a ruling forcing us to accept whatever big corporations want. Their giant corporations want to dominate world markets. In a "Globalized" society, people don't matter - only corporations do. Small independent operators and family farms are doomed by globalization.

Aggressive Agri-Business

One of the coziest arrangements has been between the U.S. government and Monsanto Corporation - now in the process of changing its name due to a bad image. Monsanto is the company that gave us Agent Orange, the allegedly safe defoliant used in the Vietnam War which has now claimed thousands of casualties. Monsanto is also one of the companies developing terminator seeds, seeds that cannot be replanted because they are genetically altered to be sterile. This is one of the most frightening developments in modern history. Attempts to corner world seed markets and sell only genetically altered seed would impoverish millions of people. When I learned that the U.S. Department of Agriculture had assisted Monsanto in the development of such a patently evil product I wondered how this could be possible in a democracy. Then I learned that one of Monsanto's key directors was one of President Clinton's key fundraisers. It is a matter of national shame that the Canadian government has been aiding and abetting the U.S. in promoting the interests of this destructive company including its increased control of Canadian agriculture. Ottawa is helping to drive Canadian farmers out of business. Globalization in agriculture means three or four giant agribusinesses are determined to monopolize the world food supply with their genetically-altered species and make us all dependent on them for our food. As we capitulate, and let our farmers go under, these aggressive corporations are buying up some of our best agricultural land.

National Fire Sale

At the same time, many of our best companies are being bought out. Thirteen thousand Canadian companies have been sold to foreigners in the last decade or so - more than 10,000 to Americans. In a stunning admission to the National Post in early March, Industry Minister John Manley predicted the end of federal restrictions that prevent foreigners from buying Canadian airlines, communications companies and even banks. There will be nothing left of Canada but an empty shell. And the kind of corporate-controlled government that allows this to happen is a cruel joke. Canada and the world are being re-engineered without the consent of the citizens who are having their birthright sold out from under their feet.

Let, Corporations Rule the World

The substitution of corporate rule for democracy is being imposed around the world. Countries have to sign treaties that give transnational corporations the right to cherry-pick their industries and assets. If a country has a business that begins to cut into market share, the transnationals can buy it, make it part of their empire, shut it down or move it to Malaysia, for example. Under the rules of "Globalization", no country - other than the big five (or six) - can hope to achieve anything like self-sufficiency.

Neo-Classical Economics - Bad economic theory and bad economic management

All of this change is justified in the name of laissez-faire economics, which insists that governments are bad and markets are good. Government-owned services must be privatized. Even basic services like health and education are on the block. This is all in accord with the ideas of Nobel laureate Milton Friedman and his colleagues at the University of Chicago. At first, the Friedman system (ideology) was called monetarism, but when that wasn't technically accurate, it was renamed neo-classical monetarism - and, more recently - just neo-classical economics. It should have been called retro-classical rather than neo-classical because it is not new. It is the same old pre-depression boom-bust system. Mainline economists won't admit it, but their 25-year experiment with neo-classical economics has been a monumental flop and resulted in a monumental 2,289% increase in federal debt. The increase in debt was not primarily due to overspending as the right insists. It was primarily due to the slow growth of the economy and debt compounding at high interest rates due to monetarist policies. Compound interest was the real culprit.

People are the Victims

The cold statistics can be translated into the heart-wrenching experiences of many Canadians. If you are a doctor or a nurse, you are likely to find yourself so overworked and stressed out that you are unable to provide the quality of care you want to give. The same can be said for many teachers whose workload has been increased to the point where they have felt obliged to reduce or eliminate participation in extra-curricular activities like drama or sports. If you are a student, you may graduate with as much or more debt as the mortgage on your parents' first house. And, no matter who you are, if you lack skills, you may be unemployed from time-to-time because a "Globalized" market system is not designed for full employment (four percent). Demand management, as practiced in the early post-war years is a neo-classical "no no". Your company may be bought and downsized leaving you with few options after long years of faithful service. This is just part of the price of "Globalization".

Is there any hope?

There is hope but it will require a revolution of the intellect followed by a revolution at the ballot box. First, and immediately, we have to abrogate the FTA and NAFTA in order to get rid of the "national treatment" clause that is killing Canada. This does not mean turning the clock back ten years on trade! Canada can compete in trade. But we cannot compete in investment - we just don't have money on the same scale. So, we must try to replace the FTA and NAFTA with new fair trade agreements and, if that is not possible, rely on the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade which served us so well for so long. Once we are rid of the "national treatment" clause, we must start screening foreign investment again and stop the sale of our best industries and with it stop much of the brain drain. Then, we must refuse to sign any more treaties, such as the FTAA (Free Trade Agreement of the Americas) that will extend the "national treatment" clause to the tip of South America. And, at the same time, we must take health care, education, agriculture and intellectual property off the table for the WTO negotiations. To give up our sovereignty in these important areas would reduce all Canadian governments to a state of impotence. This must not be allowed to happen! Canada should say "No!" to any extension of WTO jurisdiction and influence until we can gauge the damage already done.

The Monopoly to Print Money

In 1974, the Bank of Canada owned more than 20% of federal government debt - the equivalent of an interest-free loan. But that is the year our central bank adopted the ideas of Milton Friedman and began to give back to the private banks their virtual monopoly to "print" money. The result is that today the B of C only owns about 4% of federal government debt and the shortfall has to be borrowed from the market, including the private banks, at high interest rates. In effect, taxpayers are subsidizing the private banks by $4-$5 billion a year. There is insufficient space to discuss monetary theory here but anyone who is interested can read books on the subject including one or two of mine such as 'Surviving the Global Financial Crisis', or 'Stop: Think', the latest one. A system where private banks print nearly all of the money is not a stable system (44 recessions and depressions in 200 years) and is not one that will provide full employment for Canada or the world. There is simply not enough money in the hands of rank and file consumers. So, we have to learn the lessons of history and revert to the system we had in effect from 1939 to 1974. Access to significant amounts of publicly-created, zero cost (debt free) money is the only way governments can meet the conflicting demands of increased expenditures for health care, education, environmental concerns, research and development, the arts and other legitimate areas of public concern while permitting lower taxes at the same time. There is no other way to reconcile the claims of left and right.

The War [Electoral] for Independence

The next federal election will decide Canada's fate. If any party - or combination of parties - that supports the FTA and NAFTA forms the next government, Canada is dead. Our only hope is a genuine alliance of patriotic Liberals, Conservatives, Reformers, NDPers, Bloc Québécois, and even people too cheesed-off to vote, getting together in one powerful movement to turn the ship of state around before it is too late. An independent Canada is best for the United States, the world and us. If we really believe that, we all have to enlist in Canada's war for independence and make it happen.

Editorial Note: Globalization directly affects our personal freedom, for example, to choose the food and medicine we need for our health.

Near the eastern end of the Fraser Valley, about 100 people (full house) turned out to hear CAP President Bev Collins presentation on the SPP and strong ties between PM Harper and former PM Lyin' Brian Mulroney, as well as the strong poloitical and business relationships that exist between many of the top business leaders in Canada and the USA, as well the need to expose and stop the NAU agenda being put forth by both the Liberals and Conservatives. She made it very clear that neither party presents a valid choice for average Canadians; that both are funded and supported by the same power brokers and globalist groups. Now more than ever, a grassroots effort is required to regain power and control for the people and that CAP is the perfect vehicle for this.

Russ Porisky, of Paradigm Education Group, gave an excellent presentation on the rights that Canadians have and how we are tricked into believing ourselves to be powerless through legal fictions.

Local CAP candidate Grant Baudais also gave a fine speech.

5 members of Fraser Valley 9/11 Truth also attended, handed out 9/11 DVDs and music CDs, literature etc and spoke to many who attended about the importance of exposing the 9/11 coverup upon which the SPP is based.

Many other rallies were help simultaneously in Canada to protest the SPP.

A great day for CAP and for Canada!

December 16, 2007

Christmas Memo from Connie Fogal, leader CAP/PAC

This letter is going out later than we hoped but here it is. First , let me wish all of you the best in the New Year and a happy holiday season . May you take the time to enjoy your loved ones and friends. They come first in duty and pleasure. May your decisions and actions tomorrow be always in ways to protect those loved ones.

Permit me to remind you that your political contributions for year 2007 must be dated no later than December 31, 2007. Your maximum is $1140.00 with adjustments. Please maximize what you can
send now.

We lost our appeal to the provincial court of appeal on the matter of the $1.75 funding per vote. The court gave us costs which is most unusual as costs usually go to the side that wins. That is an indication they knew we had merit, but were not willing to shake the political battle and are leaving it to the Supreme Court of Canada (SCC) for final solution. We have instructed the lawyer to apply for leave to appeal to the SCC, but leave is discretionary, so we may not get permission to make our arguments before the SCC. However , our lawyer,Peter Rosenthall, points out that the merits are the same for us as were in the Figueroa case that struck down the 50 candidate rule and he is optimistic. The court is not now comprised of the same judges though . That should not matter but it could.

This means we continue to be totally dependent on your financial generosity. So please top up your 2007 contribution, Make a contribution on line at www.canadianactionparty.ca or mail cheque
to CAP at 385- 916 West Broadway, Vancouver B.C., V5Z1K7.

There will be four by-elections in the new Year that will require funding:

1.Toronto Center- writ must drop no later than December 30 2007 Doug Plumb is our candidate for Toronto Centre.

2. Willowdale Ontario -writ must drop no later than January 8, 2008 (Currently no candidate.Let's get one)

3.Vancouver Quadra - writ must drop no later than January 26, 2008 Andrew Marshall , our candidate for North Vancouver earlier said he would be candidate in Quadra byelection. I trust and hope
that still holds. If not, we need to get one.

4. Desnethe/ Missinnippi/ Churchill River (Saskatchewan) -writ must drop no later than March 2, 2008. we have no potentials here at this time

We have been fruitfully organizing CAP to a significant degree of progress thanks to many dedicated members and staff. The fact we now have some full time staff indicates our progress. Our party is well received as people learn of us. For the next federal election we now have already 47 approved candidates. Many of those have not been posted to our website because we await their bios but I have left instruction to post them now and add bios as they come in. We have 143 other possible candidates, people who have expressed an interest in candidacy and for whom we await their preliminary paper work. Candidate possibles are arriving every day. This means something! There is a consciousness shift happening.

May I point out that I have been dismissed as a conspiracy nut over the years, and it is no satisfaction to note that information I had presented subsequently became common knowledge. I say that to you to encourage your patience in matters I continue to profile more publicly than do others. Part of my role is to get you thinking, questioning, analyzing. Ultimately each of us is responsible for our world . It is the duty of each of us to defend ourselves and our world, to stand and be counted. To do that we need information. To receive information we need a clear mind. To have a clear mind we need a healthy body. To be healthy we have to know how we are being attacked. It is a circle. But it is surmountable

We are under attack from chemtrails of barium and aluminum and other poisonous agents; from vaccinations that contain mercury known to cause autism, and paralysis, that attack our immune systems.and make our brains robotic, and that are harmfully affected by the electromagnetic fields of scalar technology ; from weather modification programs that utilize scalar weapons technology which profoundly affect the operation of the earth, that can cause tsunamis and earthquakes at will. Massive information on these points abounds on the internet for you to examine and study and form your own opinions, and to answer why.

My point is that it is crucial that you protect your brain power, your capacity to think. I am serious. Breathe deeply in healthy air.

Those of you who are following matters know that the situation is grave worldwide. I am not going to spend a lot of time in this letter talking about the latest details, but I will leave you with some links to pursue when and if you feel like it. Right now I wish to pursue the traditional practice in the spirit of this Season for its original point which is as relevant today as ever before.

This is the Season to enjoy and cherish our families and loved ones, to reflect on the past year, and to make resolutions for building a better world at home and elsewhere over the next twelve months. The starting point to do that is to keep ourselves healthy and strong in body, mind, and spirit.

Let us resolve to pursue the survival of this earth and all of its inhabitants, not just a select few. "Peace on earth . Good will to all."
